It actually looks like the whole statusbar should be redone. We need
one small bit saying Ready/Busy, a progress bar and then random text.
While busy, the random text should be what is happening. While
navigating menus it should be extended help. Otherwise it should be
version/phone/port.
So we're looking at a total of 3 panes. Currently, the progress stuff includes the gauge, major text and minor text; I assume you'd like to combine/merge/display the major/minor text in the new random text pane?one small bit saying Ready/Busy, a progress bar and then random text.
