Roger, thanks for the pointer. When I went through the manual, it didn't explicitly mention OS X, but it did touched on POSIX. I wasn't sure if OS X is POSIX or not, so just wanted to err on the safe side.

You don't need to do this. We already use threading everywhere else
and it is on all platforms we use.
