It's not Bitpim, It's drivers for newer phones. It appears by the statements from
Bitpim that you should not even ask unless you will offer your phone as a sacraficial
specimen to disect in the name or progress.

It will be a difficult to add support for the Octane if it is anything like the Cosmos touch (same generation). This phone is the first LG CDMA phone I have encountered that doesn't use files in /pim to store phonebook data. There is a basic phonebook protocol using f1 commands but I haven't figured out a way to use it to modify group/ringer id/photo id information. If I have some time this week I will take another look.

I have looked through the forms on the homepage and even tried to Google my question and have found no answer.  I have the newest version of Bitpim and am trying to get it to work with my LG Octane.  From what I've heard is that it is newer than the last time the Bitpim program has been updated and therefore doesn't support it.  Are there any plans on an updated version of Bitpim which will support my phone?  If not then is there a program available which can do this?  I looked on Google and found nothing which transfers phone data like Bitpim and works for my Octane.

Thanks for your time,

How about the Samsung SCH-U490? The last time I checked it was not on the setup menu.
Or is there another model I can use?

The octane may be using the LG embedded database management system (LGeDBMS)
like the LG lotus (and who knows what else). It looks pretty complex, I
poked at it a bit but never got anywhere with it.

The best I have been able to do is this paper:
http://citeseer.ist.psu.edu/viewdoc/download;jsessionid=4C2AAB522309266701B91FECE1E0D917?doi=10.1.1.101.1036&rep=rep1&type=pdf

I was able to access the file system after installing the LG for the phone
via Bitpim and for the lotus, they were a set of vol files under the
DB\sysDB folder. It looked like all the vol files functioned together
somehow, though I was never able to figure out what data corresponded to the
parts of the DBMS the paper said the it should have.

There are some .dat files in the DB\schema\Handset folder that are just
plain text. Again, I was never able to apply them but some of the syntax
shows up in Google searches for other LG phones so this database system may
be used on other LG phones too.
