Hi,

My son's Samsung M500 has no working cable connection and I was lending him
my old but working VGA1000 to use as backup until Samsung repairs or
replaces his M500. Before he ships it off, I had him use his Bluetooth to
save his contacts as .vcf files on his macBook Pro. I thought it would be
easy to have the Mac OS/X 10.4 system run Bitpim to import the vcf aka vcard
files into its phone book for download via a USB cable to my old VGA1000.
I'm trying it here on my Mac and finding problems loading the vcf files into
bitpim via File->Import->vCards....

The first problem is that I apparently need to import them one at a time.
Selecting all the .vcf files in a directory by choosing the first and then
scrolling down to shift and choose the last only seems to select the last
one. If I could overcome this problem, the rest of the issues below would
become unimportant.

The second problem is that not all the vcf files seem to be able to be
merged into the phonebook. Sometimes it just does not do it and other times
bitpim just crashes.

Has anyone else had these problems and do you know of any workarounds?

I was thinking I might try to find some way of converting the vcf files into
a single csv file, but I'm not finding any documentation about what the
proper format for a input contact csv file might be and I cannot think of a
utility that would perform such a conversion. I don't have Outlook or
Excel on my iMac.

You can import the vcf files into the Mac OS X Address Book. Once it
is in there, you can export them all as a single vCard which BitPim
can read in. Just make sure you highlight all the contacts you want to
export at once and then export from the File menu.

Hope that helps,
