I can't tell if this is related to my problems with apsw, but I think
the following needs to be added to the directions for installing
python's dependencies:

under the section:

Install wxPython

Macintosh users should download the latest version of Python,
currently found at:

http://pythonmac.org/packages/py25-fat/index.html

Install Python 2.5
<http://pythonmac.org/packages/py25-fat/dmg/python-2.5-macosx.dmg>

then wxPython

unicode-2.6.3.3-universal10.4-py2.5.dmg>

If someone else can verify this, then maybe this can be added to the
how-to's?

(also, is there a reason not to use v2.8.11 ? just curious )

Not sure if it makes any difference on the Mac, but BitPim uses
Python 2.3

I don't know if it makes a difference either. FWIW, Bitpim.app still
runs fine on this computer with the updated Python.

I would assume that the compiled application (BitPim.app) would not
require Python on the running system - only running from source would
require Python.

Just as another data point, I worked on the modules to support the LG
6100. I did that work from Mac OS X 10.3.x. When I upgraded to 10.4.x, I
was unable to get BitPim running from source. I had issues with wxPython.
Since I was done with the LG 6100 modules at the time, I didn't pursue it
further.
