[BitPim-devel] Calendar problems with 9.02 and SCH-A950

Joe/Roger,

I reported a problem with 9.01 and calendar support. The problem was that Bitpim was erasing the calendar events in the phone but not replacing them with new info. I haven't had a chance to do a detailed study of the problem until this evening. Since 9.02 is available, I thought I should try with that revision.

Now the problem is clearer. All of my calendar entries are imported into Bitpim from Outlook 2003. Single events are transferred to the phone correctly. Recurring events are not transferred.

A closer look at the calendar entries in Bitpim shows that the problem lies in the Outlook Calendar import. All recurring meetings are displayed in the Bitpim with no start/end time (i.e. the boxes are greyed out.). Moreover, the repeat tab shows no information when the "Repeat Events: Import as multi-single events" box is cleared.

the problem lies in the Outlook Calendar import
Can you provide some details of some of the Outlook events that you tried to import into BitPim?

Joe,

here are some examples:
meeting 1: Start Time 6/8/2006 1:00PM, End Time 6/8/2006 2:00PM.
The subject and location fields are very long. The body is over 2 pages of text. Label: None; Show time as: Busy; No attachments.
This meeting is one of a series starting 4/13/2006, ending 7/6/2006, occurring every 2 weeks. Reminder is set for 15 minutes before.

When I'm back at work I'll invite you to a non-confidential meeting so that you have a copy of the meetings details. Let me know if you are running Outlook, or need an ical/vcal meeting request.

In the Calendar Entry Editor, no fields are set except the reminder, which is set to 0. The only other field that has any information is the large text block to the left of the tabbed property pages which reads "1:00 pm Bi-Weekly - Glenn's Busi"

When you click on this summary field (which will become the title of the calendar event in the phone), all the data fields in the tabbed areas magically appear, and have correct values. Moreover, the fields in other calendar entries will now display if you double-click any event in the Bitpim monthly calendar view.

This behavior is now functional until the end of the Bitpim session. When you restart it, the behavior reverts to not showing details of any event until you have clicked on the meeting title in the Calendar Entry Editor.
Nevertheless, these events are not transferred to the phone. Does it have anything to do with the filter settings which specify that I only want the next 30 days of calendar entries? Could it be excluding a series of meetings that starts in April 13, even though they are displayed on Bitpim calendar?

I'll look into it. It's most likely the import behaviour. It may be working correctly, though not the way you expected.
