Joe, do you think you can make the following change? The Mac status bar
cuts off the text. It doesn't have as much padding as the Windows
status bar.

cuts off the text. It doesn't have as much padding as the Windows
status bar.

It actually looks like the whole statusbar should be redone. We need
one small bit saying Ready/Busy, a progress bar and then random text.
While busy, the random text should be what is happening. While navigating
menus it should be extended help. Otherwise it should be version/phone/port.

The original code was constrained by wx always putting the menu help
text in the first component.
