I have just committed the speedup for loading wallpaper thumbnails.
It is better on Windows and Linux but they weren't particularly
bad anyway.
Also note that thumbnails are only made as items become visible.
That is why scrolling can be jerky but it recovers as you
scrollback.
There isn't any way of speeding up the loading of thumbnails
any more. The one thing that can be speeded up is caching them
so that they aren't regenerated on each change to the list.
